Polaris Career Center and Southwest General Partner to Train Future LPNs

Polaris Career Center and Southwest General have joined forces to train adults aspiring to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). The unique program offers the convenience of completing all clinicals within a single location. “Southwest aims to train and recruit the next generation of employees,” Polaris stated.

The 11-month program, approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, commences in August and operates during weekdays, with occasional Friday sessions. Students engage in 788 hours of classroom instruction, 146 hours of skills lab practice, and 166 hours of clinical rotations. State-of-the-art labs and classrooms, led by experienced healthcare professionals, facilitate a comprehensive learning experience. Notably, one lab simulates a home-like setting to prepare students for home healthcare.

Graduates of the LPN program are eligible to take the licensing exam. Financial assistance and scholarships are available to eligible candidates. Applications must be submitted by July 1st.

To qualify, applicants must complete the program application, hold a high school diploma or GED, and pass the ATI TEAS pre-entrance exam. “Our goal is to break down barriers to entering the nursing profession,” said Nursing Program Administrator Michael Johnson. “The nursing shortage is significant, and we strive to be part of the solution.”

Polaris Career Center is delighted to launch the program after extensive preparation. “We possess a fantastic facility and exceptional staff,” said Slivochka. “It’s an exceptional opportunity.”
