Political Shuffle in Maharashtra: Abu Azmi’s Possible Move to NCP

Days after SP MLA Rais Shaikh’s resignation, rumors have emerged about Abu Azmi, another SP MLA and state president, potentially joining the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Sources claim that Azmi met with NCP leader Praful Patel in Mumbai, where a decision was made regarding his entry into the party.

Meanwhile, in Parbhani, the BJP has backed Mahadeo Jankar as its official candidate, despite Rajesh Vitekar’s intention to run for the NCP. To avoid any obstacles for Jankar, the Mahayuti has enlisted Vitekar to oversee the polls. The BJP has also urged Maratha leaders to support Jankar, a member of the Dhangar community.

In another development, Prakash Ambedkar-led VBA’s Solapur candidate Rahul Gaikwad has withdrawn his candidacy, citing his goal to prevent the BJP from winning the seat. While Ambedkar claims to have Muslim and Dalit support, his workers are reportedly backing the Opposition.
