Poll Code Violations: Five Cases Against Bhojpuri Actor Pawan Singh

Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh, an Independent candidate for the Karakat Lok Sabha seat, has faced legal repercussions for alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during his roadshow on Tuesday.

Authorities have registered five cases against Singh and his supporters, alleging that they used more than the permitted number of vehicles and violated the prohibition on using hooters during the roadshow. The roadshow reportedly involved over 50 SUVs, 35-40 bikes, and a hooter-mounted SUV bearing the word ‘administration.’

The cases have been registered against Singh and his supporters Ambuj Kumar Singh and Bhupendra Kumar Singh at various police stations, including Karakat, Bikramganj, Sanjhauli, Rajpur, and Akorhi Gola.

Bikramganj sub-divisional magistrate Anil Basak stated that the administration had granted permission for only five four-wheelers for the roadshow. However, the alleged use of excessive vehicles and prohibited hooters constituted a violation of the MCC.

Pawan Singh, known as the ‘Power Star’ among Bhojpuri masses, has made the Karakat parliamentary seat a three-way contest. The other candidates include former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha of the NDA and Raja Ram Singh Kushwaha of the INDI Alliance. The constituency is scheduled to go to polls on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the elections.
