A shocking incident unfolded in Delhi’s iconic Connaught Place on Thursday, August 22nd, when a pornographic video was displayed on a digital advertisement board. The incident came to light after passersby spotted the obscene content playing on one of the LED screens located in the H Block of Connaught Place.
Delhi Police swiftly responded to the incident, registering an FIR and launching an investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), which manages the area, stated that the incident was likely a case of hacking, suggesting that advanced technology was employed to breach the security of the digital display.
The NDMC, in a statement, clarified that the LED screens in Connaught Place are of international standard and are controlled by a secure server equipped with a firewall and antivirus protection. They highlighted that these screens are used for displaying advertisements and also serve as interactive touchscreens for public use.
Following the incident, the pornographic video was removed from the screen with the assistance of NDMC officials. While the incident remains under investigation, the NDMC emphasized that this is an isolated case and that similar breaches have not been reported at other locations where they have installed advertisement boards.
The NDMC is currently investigating the cause of the security breach and the identity of the individuals involved. Their focus is on determining how the firewall was bypassed and what methods were used to display the inappropriate content.
