President of ECA Questions Super League’s Future, Emphasizes Club Competition Unity

In a recent meeting with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, ECA President Nasser Al-Khelaifi raised concerns over the controversial Super League concept, emphasizing the ECA’s belief in the importance of club competition unity. Al-Khelaïfi, alongside ECA CEO Jonas Baer-Hoffmann and Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay, expressed pride in the unity among the association’s 610 member clubs, highlighting the significance of Spanish clubs within the ECA. Al-Khelaïfi urged for unity in Spanish football, emphasizing the benefits it would bring to all parties involved. ECA vice president Edwin van der Sar, who is also the CEO of Ajax, stressed the need to protect the existing football structure and pursue the dreams of aspiring individuals. This latest development comes as the Super League trial nears its conclusion, with the oral hearing having taken place on March 14 in Commercial Court number 17 in Madrid.
