Primary Wave Music’s acquisition encompasses Finn’s extensive catalog, including his work with Crowded House, a band he co-founded and led to international success. Iconic songs like “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” which topped charts worldwide and became a timeless classic, are part of the deal. “Weather With You,” co-written with his brother Tim, and “Better Be Home Soon,” voted one of New Zealand’s best songs of the 20th century, are also included. Finn’s prolific output with Split Enz, including the 1980 hit “I Got You,” is part of the acquisition.
Throughout his illustrious career, Finn has remained an active solo artist and recently joined Fleetwood Mac for their final tour alongside Mike Campbell. Crowded House, now featuring Finn’s sons Elroy and Liam, is set to release their eighth album, “Gravity Stairs,” in the coming weeks.
Neil Finn expressed his confidence in Primary Wave’s dedication to preserving his musical legacy. “I look forward to seeing Primary Wave’s plan for the ongoing care of my songs. I am confident they see the body of my work as music that matters,” he said.
David Weitzman, Primary Wave’s CEO, hailed Finn’s exceptional songwriting skills and the company’s commitment to supporting his future endeavors. “We are thrilled to welcome Neil Finn to Primary Wave. Not only is he a master songwriter, he is the songwriters’ favorite songwriter,” Weitzman remarked. “We look forward to working closely with Neil and his great team at Shelter Management on the next stages of his storied career.”
