Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Major Development Projects in Mumbai and Palghar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai and Palghar, Maharashtra on August 30th, where he will be engaged in inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various development projects. His first stop will be in Mumbai, where he will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) at the Jio World Convention Centre. The GFF is a joint initiative of the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council.

Following his address at the GFF, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Palghar, where he will officially inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant development projects at the CIDCO ground.

One of the key projects to be inaugurated is the Vadhvan Port, located near the Dahanu town in Palghar district. The port, set to be one of India’s largest deep-water ports, promises to provide direct connectivity to international shipping routes, leading to reduced transit times and costs. With a total cost of approximately ₹76,000 crores, the port aims to establish a world-class maritime gateway, fostering the country’s trade and economic growth. It will be capable of handling large container vessels, offering deeper drafts, and accommodating ultra-large cargo ships. The port will be equipped with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure, featuring deep berths, efficient cargo handling facilities, and modern port management systems.

Beyond the Vadhvan Port, Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 218 fisheries projects, worth approximately ₹1,560 crores. These projects are strategically designed to bolster the fishing sector’s infrastructure and productivity across India.

In a significant development for the fishing industry, Prime Minister Modi will also launch the National Roll Out of Vessel Communication and Support system, costing around ₹360 crores. This project involves the phased installation of 1 lakh transponders on mechanised and motorised fishing vessels in 13 coastal states and union territories. The vessel communication and support system, an indigenous technology developed by ISRO, will facilitate two-way communication while fishermen are at sea, enhancing rescue operations and ensuring the safety of fishermen.

Finally, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Integrated Aquaparks, further solidifying his commitment to the development of the fishing sector and the overall economic well-being of the nation.
