Prince Harry’s Lack of ‘Permanent Residence’ Hint He Doesn’t Have Green Card

Prince Harry has given a clear indication that he doesn’t possess a green card, according to an expert. Last week, it emerged that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, had informed UK authorities that he usually resides in the United States. This notification was made in June 2023, when he last departed from his UK home, Frogmore Cottage. An expert has now highlighted how the Duke meticulously avoided using the term “permanent residence,” which is interpreted as a hint that he doesn’t hold a green card. “From a US immigration standpoint, ‘residency’ encompasses a wide range of visa categories and essentially indicates that he is not a tourist,” noted Charlotte Slocombe, a US immigration specialist. “It does not provide any insight into the type of visa he holds. The omission of the term ‘permanent residence’ seems to suggest that he does not possess a green card, which would constitute the initial step toward naturalization and US citizenship,” she told the Daily Express. Slocombe further elaborated, “Harry can maintain temporary US immigration status by holding an A-1 diplomatic visa or an O-1 Extraordinary Ability or Achievement visa indefinitely, without ever having to become a permanent resident or US citizen.” This revelation sheds light on the intricacies of Harry’s immigration status and provides a glimpse into his long-term plans.
