Kate Middleton and Prince William have taken to social media to share a heartwarming photograph of their youngest child, Prince Louis, on the occasion of his 6th birthday. The image, which was posted on both Twitter and Instagram, displays a radiant Louis lying down on a picnic blanket in a grassy field, his face beaming with happiness. The devoted parents shared a heartfelt caption alongside the image, expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of well wishes they had received: “Happy 6th Birthday, Prince Louis! 🎂 Thank you for all the kind wishes today.”
The royal family is making every effort to ensure that Louis’s special day is as ordinary and pleasurable as possible, taking into consideration the challenging times the family has recently experienced. Following the revelation of Middleton and King Charles’s respective cancer diagnoses earlier this year, this is the first royal birthday celebration to take place. Middleton, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer, revealed her diagnosis in March. In February, Charles, at the age of 75, made his own cancer diagnosis public.
According to sources within the palace, Middleton chose to share the news with the public on a specific day, ensuring it occurred before her and William’s three children—Prince George, 10; Princess Charlotte, 8; and Prince Louis, 5—embarked on their Easter break from school. The source further disclosed that while the Waleses chose to present Middleton’s health situation to their youngest son Louis in a gentle and age-appropriate manner, they had more candid conversations with George and Charlotte.
During this challenging time, Middleton’s parents, Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, have stepped in to provide unwavering support for their grandchildren. On Louis’s birthday last year, the Waleses released two new photographs of the young prince enjoying the outdoors. The adorable pictures, captured by accomplished portrait photographer Millie Pilkington, were posted on the couple’s social media accounts. They depicted Louis, clad in a cozy blue sweater and shorts, grinning happily as his mother pushed him outdoors in a wheelbarrow. The accompanying caption read: “Someone’s turning 5 tomorrow… 🎂 🥳 A very happy birthday to Prince Louis.”
Louis’s birthday occurs just a few days before his sister, Princess Charlotte, celebrates her 9th birthday on May 2nd. Prince George, their eldest son, will turn 11 on July 22nd.
