Prince Louis, the youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, celebrated his sixth birthday on Tuesday with the release of a series of adorable new photos. The photos, taken by his mother, Kate, show Louis grinning happily as he plays barefoot on a blanket in the grass. Many of Louis’ fans commented on how much he resembles his mother, Kate. The photos were released directly to social media, rather than under embargo to the press, which is understood to be due to the family’s current situation following Kate’s cancer diagnosis. Louis was last seen publicly on Christmas Day when the royal family made their traditional festive appearance on the King’s Sandringham Estate to walk to church.
In addition to the new photos, the Prince and Princess of Wales also released a statement thanking those who had sent birthday wishes to Louis. The statement said: “The Prince and Princess of Wales are delighted to share these new photos of Prince Louis on his sixth birthday. They are very grateful for all the kind messages they have received and thank everyone for their well wishes.” Louis’ birthday comes just two months after his mother underwent abdominal surgery for a rare form of cancer. Kate is now recovering at home and is said to be doing well.
Louis is the third child of the Prince and Princess of Wales. He has an older brother, Prince George, and an older sister, Princess Charlotte.
