Prince Louis Turns Six: Yet to Embark on an Overseas Royal Tour

Prince Louis, the adorable youngster and youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, turns six years old today. Despite making his public debut at the Lindo Wing shortly after his birth, Louis has largely been raised away from the spotlight. However, he has played a role in several major royal events, including the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, King Charles’ Coronation, and Trooping the Colour last year.

One significant royal milestone that Louis has yet to reach is an overseas royal tour, even though his younger cousin Prince Archie, who resides in America, has already embarked on one. Travel restrictions imposed by Covid during 2020 and 2021 prevented Louis from traveling abroad as a toddler. In contrast, Archie accompanied his parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, on their 2019 royal tour to South Africa as a young infant, where he met Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Louis’ older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were both younger than him when they went on their first overseas tours. George’s first royal tour was to Australia and New Zealand when he was just nine months old, while Charlotte joined the family on a visit to Canada at 16 months old in 2016.

The timing of Louis’ royal tour debut remains uncertain. However, he recently carried out his first royal engagement at King Charles’ Coronation Big Help Out, alongside his parents and siblings.

Prince Louis is fourth in line to the throne and was born on St George’s Day, April 23, 2018, at the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. He was christened Louis Arthur Charles at 11 weeks old by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, in front of friends and family.

Louis attends the private Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire alongside his siblings. He recently returned to school following the Easter break, during which his mother, Kate, revealed she is undergoing cancer treatment in an emotional video message. Kate spoke about the ‘huge shock’ of her diagnosis following abdominal surgery and the ‘incredibly tough couple of months’ her family has experienced.
