Despite a recent mention of Harry in Prince William’s documentary about homelessness, experts are hesitant to see it as a sign of reconciliation.
In the documentary titled “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness,” the Prince of Wales reminisced about a childhood trip with his mother, Princess Diana, and his brother, Harry, to a London shelter called Passage. The documentary showcased unseen photos from June 1993, depicting the trio together. While some speculated that William’s inclusion of Harry could indicate a thawing of their relationship, royal expert Phil Dampier expressed a different view.
Dampier believes that William’s mention of Harry was more out of necessity than an olive branch, highlighting that it would have been strange to exclude Harry from the narrative given the context. He maintains that the brothers’ relationship remains distant and strained. “I don’t see it as any sort of major breakthrough, I’m afraid, in their relationship. Which is sadly, as far apart as ever,” Dampier told The Sun.
Hugo Vickers, another royal expert, shared a similar perspective, stating that the mention was more practical than an attempt to mend fences. He believes that excluding Harry would have been unusual and could have been interpreted as a deeper rift. However, Vickers also offered a glimmer of hope, suggesting that while tensions persist, time might help ease the bitterness between the brothers.
“I’d like to say that I see it as an olive branch to his brother, but I think it’s more the case that since he was talking about an event where Prince Harry was present, it would have been very odd if he hadn’t mentioned him. On the other hand, he could have specifically excluded him, which would have been indicative of a complete breach between them,” Vickers told the publication.
Despite these recent developments, it seems the future of the brothers’ relationship remains uncertain. While time may heal old wounds, the path to reconciliation for Prince William and Prince Harry is still shrouded in uncertainty.
