Paolo Liuzzo, the 41-year-old ex-boyfriend of Princess Beatrice, was found dead in a Miami hotel room on February 7, 2023. Police were called to the four-star citizenM Miami Worldcenter hotel after receiving reports of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, they discovered Liuzzo’s body inside the room and pronounced him dead at 3:34 pm. The cause of death has yet to be disclosed due to Florida records law.
Liuzzo and Princess Beatrice, now 35, began dating in 2005 when she was just 17 years old. Their relationship became public a year later when Liuzzo accompanied Beatrice on a family ski trip to Switzerland. However, he was forced to return to the United States after violating his probation conditions.
Prior to his relationship with Princess Beatrice, Liuzzo had been charged with assault and battery in connection with the death of a student in Massachusetts. According to sources close to Liuzzo, he had struggled with drug use and had accumulated significant gambling debts.
The news of Liuzzo’s death reportedly reached Princess Beatrice shortly after her mother, Sarah Ferguson, was diagnosed with cancer. Miami Police Department Officer Michael Vega stated that the incident is being investigated as an overdose death, and the investigation is still ongoing.
According to Liuzzo’s death certificate, he was employed as an art industry consultant and had never been married. He was listed as residing in an apartment building near the hotel where he was found deceased.
Sources have indicated that Liuzzo’s drug use and gambling problems had taken a toll on his personal life. A friend of Liuzzo told the Sun that he was “not doing great on a personal level” and that his excessive partying, gambling, and drug use had led to a downward spiral.
The friend also revealed that Liuzzo had been resorting to borrowing money to pay off his debts, creating a “vicious cycle” that ultimately contributed to his untimely demise.
