Princess Kate’s Secret Hobby: The Royal’s Surprising Love for Cold Water Swimming

Princess Kate Middleton, known for her active lifestyle, has shared her unconventional hobby with the world: cold water swimming. Her enthusiasm for this invigorating activity, even in the dark and cold, has sparked surprise from her husband, Prince William. Kate’s passion for physical pursuits extends beyond cold water swimming. She explained, “I can always remember being physical, using our bodies, whether it’s walking, climbing the lake district, in Scotland [or] swimming from a young age. [My parents] always encouraged us to be physically active and sporty and they always encouraged us into doing team sports and trying things.” In addition to her love for cold water swimming, Kate Middleton is also a qualified scuba diver. Her PADI Advanced Open Water Diver qualification allows her to dive to a depth of up to 98 feet (30 meters), enabling her to share this adventure with her husband, Prince William, who serves as president of the British Sub-Aqua Club. Kate’s diving qualification required her to complete five dives, including a deep dive and an underwater navigation dive, demonstrating her competence and commitment to underwater exploration. While Prince William initially expressed his concern for his wife’s unusual hobby, he has recognized the physical and mental benefits of diving. He expressed his hope that his son, Prince George, would one day discover the wonders of this activity.
