Priyanka Gandhi Condemns Assault on AAP’s Swati Maliwal, Expresses Solidarity with Women

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has unequivocally condemned the alleged assault on Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. She affirmed that Congress stands firmly with women against any form of atrocity, irrespective of their political affiliations. While addressing the media, Gandhi stated, “If any atrocity happens to any woman anywhere, we stand with the woman. I always stand with women – irrespective of which party they belong to.” She emphasized that the issue will be discussed within AAP, and the party will make its own decision on the appropriate course of action. Earlier, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba lauded Maliwal’s strength and expressed confidence in her pursuing legal recourse. Lamba said, “Swati Maliwal is a strong and aware woman, I am confident that she will come forward and take the legal route and fight for justice.” AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicizing the incident. He alleged that the BJP was behind Maliwal being mishandled by Delhi Police during a wrestlers’ protest at Jantar Mantar. Singh questioned the BJP’s selective outrage, stating, “Can they answer on the case of Swati Maliwal, when she went to fight for justice for women wrestlers at Jantar Mantar, they made the police drag and beat her up. Don’t play political games on this.” Meanwhile, the BJP has shared a photograph of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bibhav Kumar, who is allegedly involved in the assault on Maliwal. The BJP has accused AAP of inaction against Kumar, who reportedly serves as the Chief Minister’s personal assistant.
