According to Indian government sources, as reported by News18, pro-Khalistani elements were present at a rally addressed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Virginia, USA on Tuesday. This revelation comes amidst Gandhi’s strong stance on religious freedom and the rights of minorities in India.
During his address to the Indian-American community on Monday, Gandhi engaged with a Sikh attendee, asking for his name. He then went on to state, “The fight is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India or a kada in India. Or he, as a Sikh, is going to be able to go to a gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about. And not just for him, for all religions.”
This statement, highlighting the fundamental rights of religious freedom, was made in the context of alleged restrictions imposed by the current Indian government on religious minorities, particularly Sikhs. The presence of pro-Khalistani elements at this event has raised concerns and sparked debate regarding the potential for such ideologies to influence the narrative surrounding the rights of religious minorities in India.
