In response to pro-Palestine protests on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Wednesday afternoon, state troopers and University of Texas law enforcement arrived on the scene. A junior at the university who witnessed the events but did not participate reported multiple arrests, with individuals being restrained by what appeared to be zip ties. The university confirmed that 10 people were indeed arrested. The student described protestors gathering on both sides of mounted police and state troopers who were clad in riot gear. The Austin Police Department clarified that its role was solely to assist the primary responding agency, the UT Police Department, and that they were not responsible for making any arrests. They also mentioned that the Texas Department of Public Safety was providing assistance. According to the school’s newspaper, The Daily Texan, approximately 50 state troopers were present in riot gear and issued a two-minute warning for protestors to disperse. The crowd was estimated to be between 150 and 200 people.
