Members of various Hindutva organizations under the banner of Jagruta Mahila Vedike organized a protest in Belagavi on Monday to condemn the gruesome murder of Neha Hiremath in Hubballi.
The protest march commenced from Maruti Galli, with the protestors, predominantly women, carrying pictures of the slain girl and chanting slogans in support of the departed soul. Placards bearing the message “Justice for Hindu Girls” were also displayed.
The protestors then proceeded to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum demanding capital punishment for the accused and stringent measures to deter future crimes of this nature. Adequate compensation and protection for the victim’s family were also demanded.
Members of the RSS, ABVP, VHP, Sri Ram Sena Hindustan, and other organizations, along with swamis and BJP workers, participated in the protest. BJP candidate Jagdish Shettar, BJP State vice-president Anil Benake, MP Mangala Angadi, and others joined the march.
Condemning the incident, Congress candidate from Chikkodi, Priyanka Jarakiholi, expressed her condolences to the victim’s family and urged for the strictest punishment for the culprit.
