Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has dismissed any formal invitation from the government for negotiations, rejecting the possibility of reconciliation. This statement comes in response to PML-N stalwart Rana Sanaullah’s recent offer to engage in dialogue with the imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar categorically denied any secret talks and emphasized that the party would publicly acknowledge any official invitation for discussions. He further denounced the legitimacy of Sunday’s by-elections, alleging that ballot boxes were pre-filled and results were predetermined.
Gohar accused the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of failing to provide a level playing field and criticized the absence of returning officers from the judiciary. He announced peaceful protests on Friday against the alleged rigging and demanded the Supreme Court’s intervention in the issue.
The PTI chairman also raised concerns about the cipher case hearing against Imran Khan, claiming that Khan’s lawyers were denied the opportunity to present evidence during the 14-hour session. He questioned the validity of cases against Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, asserting that she had no involvement in the Toshakhana case and that the charges were politically motivated.
Despite rejecting reconciliation offers, Gohar emphasized that the PTI was fighting for its rights and seeking a fair and transparent electoral process. He highlighted the nation’s pressing economic and political challenges, including escalating terrorism, and urged the government to address these issues rather than engaging in political maneuvers.
