In a move aimed at ensuring fair admissions, the Puducherry Directorate of Health and Family Welfare has taken a firm stance against students attempting to exploit the system. The directorate has ordered the exclusion of four candidates from Tamil Nadu and four from Kerala from the MBBS course under its quota. This decision was made after a thorough investigation revealed that these candidates had submitted dual nativity certificates.
While these students claimed nativity in Puducherry, the investigation uncovered that they had also presented nativity certificates in either Tamil Nadu or Kerala to secure admissions in colleges within those states. The issue came to light after Vai Bala alias Balasubramanian, the president of the Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association, raised concerns and lodged complaints regarding students from other states potentially using fake certificates to gain admission in Puducherry.
Dr. S. Sevvel, director of health and family welfare, issued an order dated September 13, 2023, confirming the cases of dual nativity and authorizing the exclusion of these eight students from the Centac NEET UG GQ (government quota) list. This decisive action sends a clear message that the Puducherry government is committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring that admissions are based on merit and genuine residency status.
