Pune Police have taken action against the mother of trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar, issuing a show cause notice demanding an explanation for her gun license. The notice was served on Sunday, July 14, and pasted on Pooja Khedkar’s house in Pune after no one was present to receive it. The notice was issued by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, following a complaint from a local farmer who alleged that Manorama Khedkar and others had threatened him. A case has been filed against her under the Arms Act in the Pune rural police jurisdiction. This development comes after the confiscation of a luxury car used by Pooja Khedkar. The car, which had an illegally installed red beacon light and the inscription ‘Maharashtra Government’, was taken to the Chaturshrangi Police Station in Pune for examination and document verification. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) issued a notice to the city-based private company that owns the Audi car. The RTO’s notice was issued on Thursday and concerns the unauthorised use of the beacon and name sign on the private sedan. The car has been confiscated, and its documents are being checked as part of an ongoing investigation. This incident follows a controversy surrounding Pooja Khedkar’s demands for a separate cabin and staff during her posting. An investigation revealed that she allegedly misused the disability and Other Backward Class (OBC) quota to secure her position in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Due to the controversy, the trainee officer was transferred from Pune to Washim district before completing her training.
