Punjab FC has announced the re-signing of Luka Majcen on a one-year deal ahead of the upcoming Indian Super League 2024-25 season. The experienced Slovenian forward has been a key player for the club over the past two seasons, captaining the side in its debut season in the ISL and contributing significantly to their success.
Majcen’s previous performances have earned him a reputation as a prolific goalscorer. In the 2023-24 season, he netted eight goals and provided two assists, showcasing his ability to contribute both offensively and creatively. His impressive form in the previous season, which saw him score 16 goals in 20 matches, led to him being awarded the ‘Hero of the League’ and the ‘Golden Boot’ awards in the I-League.
Prior to his arrival at Punjab FC in 2022, Majcen gained valuable experience playing for various clubs in India, including Churchill Brothers, Bengaluru United, and Gokulam Kerala. His football journey began with Slovenian side Interblock based in Ljubljana, and he has since represented clubs such as Rudar Velenje, Koper, Triglav Kranj, Gorcia, and Krka in his home country.
“Luka is a very experienced player and he has a very good understanding of the club and Indian Football. He has performed at the highest level in the past two seasons for us and we felt like he can make an immediate impact this season as well,” said Nikolaos Topoliatis, the Technical Director of Punjab FC.
