Punjab Politicians File Nominations for Lok Sabha Polls
Several prominent Punjab politicians filed their nomination papers on May 10 for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for June 1. Among them was Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from the Amritsar seat. Before submitting his nomination, Sandhu participated in a roadshow in Amritsar accompanied by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Jaishankar expressed confidence in Sandhu’s victory, stating that he would be an outstanding MP in Parliament. He emphasized that Sandhu was the ideal choice to represent Amritsar’s interests both at the national and local levels.
Other notable candidates who filed their nominations included Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Anil Joshi from Amritsar, Congress’ Sukhjinder Randhawa from Gurdaspur, and AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Khuddian from Bathinda. The nomination filing process will continue until May 14, with scrutiny of papers scheduled for May 15. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 17.
