A shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the Punjabi music scene, with renowned singer AP Dhillon becoming the target of a brazen attack in Vancouver, Canada. CCTV footage has surfaced, capturing the chaotic events of September 2nd, which involved gunfire erupting outside Dhillon’s home, followed by the torching of two vehicles. Thankfully, Dhillon himself escaped unharmed.
The incident, which involved a black truck and a smaller vehicle in the driveway being set ablaze, occurred while Indo-Canadian rapper Shinda Kahlon, a close associate of Dhillon, was the only person present at the residence. Kahlon also escaped unharmed.
Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility
The notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the shooting, alleging that it was a retaliatory act against Dhillon for featuring Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a music video. The Bishnoi gang, already under investigation for involvement in high-profile cases including the murders of Sidhu Moose Wala and Baba Siddique, has also issued threats against Salman Khan.
Arrests Made, One Suspect at Large
Following the shooting, Canadian police apprehended 25-year-old Abhijeet Kingra from Ontario. Kingra faces serious charges, including the discharge of a firearm with intent and arson, and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario court. Authorities have also issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Vikram Sharma, who remains at large. While police lack a photograph of Sharma, they describe him as a South Asian male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. They believe he may be currently in India.
AP Dhillon: A Targeted Star
AP Dhillon’s meteoric rise to fame within the Punjabi music scene, propelled by hit tracks like “Brown Munde,” “Excuses,” “Summer High,” “With You,” “Dil Nu,” and “Insane,” has unfortunately made him a target in this ongoing feud with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Violence in the Music Industry
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s claims extend beyond this incident, as they have also asserted involvement in a shooting at a jeweller’s residence in Canada. Gangster Rohit Godara, claiming affiliation with Bishnoi, has publicly threatened Dhillon on social media, raising serious concerns about the safety of artists within the industry. The emergence of this CCTV footage underscores the escalating violence and its potential repercussions for the music community. This incident highlights the growing threat posed by organized crime to artists, particularly those who have achieved mainstream success.
