The dream of an airport in Purnia, Bihar, is finally taking flight! After years of anticipation and overcoming several obstacles, the project has received the green light and construction is set to begin soon. A delegation from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) recently conducted a comprehensive site assessment in Purnia, using advanced technology like drones and Differential Global Positioning Systems (DGPS). This thorough inspection involved collecting almost 3,000 data points, including the land’s latitude, longitude, elevation, and detailed contour mapping.
Following the visit of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to Purnia, a meeting with key officials addressed and resolved all remaining issues related to the airport’s construction. Purnia District Magistrate Kundan Kumar confirmed that no further hurdles stand in the way of development.
The AAI has secured 52.18 acres of land in Goasi village for the project, paving the way for construction to commence. The new airport is expected to significantly boost tourism and economic development in the region, providing much-needed connectivity and creating new opportunities for residents of Purnia and surrounding areas. The airport will also play a vital role in connecting Bihar to the rest of the country and the world, further fostering trade and tourism growth.
