In celebration of World Tourism Day, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) unveiled a series of initiatives on Wednesday, September 28, 2024, aimed at enhancing the travel experience for visitors to Qatar. Recognizing the global significance of this annual celebration on September 27th, Qatar Rail highlighted the seamless connectivity and world-class services provided by the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks. These networks play a crucial role in connecting key areas of Doha and Lusail, serving densely populated regions, major hubs, and popular tourist attractions.
Qatar Rail’s strategic vision aligns with the growth of tourism in Qatar, facilitating a range of tourism events, including sports, wellness, leisure, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. To further enhance the tourist experience, Qatar Rail partnered with Stopover Tourism, a renowned destination management company, to launch inaugural guided tours on the Doha Metro. These specially curated experiences cater to visitors and layover passengers in Doha, providing a unique opportunity to discover the city’s key attractions with the guidance of professional tour guides. The first tour, commencing at Msheireb Station, took participants through the National Museum and Souq Waqif stations, offering a rich experience showcasing Qatar’s cultural and tourism heritage.
As part of its commitment to enhancing the visitor experience, Qatar Rail announced a partnership with Hamad International Airport (HIA) to offer Complimentary Day Passes to visitors. This three-day initiative, commencing on Thursday, aimed to encourage travelers to explore the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram, providing easy access to various tourist destinations. In collaboration with Qatar Tourism, Qatar Rail will jointly promote events and activities across the country, readily accessible through the metro and tram networks. Moreover, Qatar Tourism will leverage various platforms to promote the Doha Metro as the preferred mode of transportation for visitors during their stay in Doha.
The Doha Metro seamlessly connects a wide array of destinations, including major landmarks and tourist attractions in and around the city, while the Lusail Tram services Lusail City and its surrounding areas. Together, these networks provide convenient access to key tourist spots in Qatar, including HIA, the National Museum of Qatar, Souq Waqif, Katara – Cultural Village, and other cultural and heritage sites. These initiatives by Qatar Rail reaffirm their commitment to promoting Qatar as a premier tourist destination, offering visitors an unforgettable and seamless travel experience.
