Qatar to Showcase Tourism Expertise at UN Tourism Regional Commission Conference
Qatar has been selected as the host for the upcoming 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission Conference for the Middle East. This prestigious event will take place in Doha, Qatar, and it signifies the country’s growing prominence as a regional and global hub for cultural, economic, and political exchange.
Qatar Tourism’s Participation and Collaboration
A high-level delegation from Qatar Tourism is actively participating in the 50th edition of the conference, which is currently underway in Muscat, Oman. The delegation, led by Chairman Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, is eager to share Qatar’s expertise and experience in developing cutting-edge tourism initiatives, such as the Hayya platform. The Hayya platform is a portal that streamlines the travel experience for visitors to Qatar, and Qatar Tourism hopes to see it adopted within the region.
During the conference, the delegation is also engaging in discussions with Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO). These discussions focus on launching the second edition of the Qatar Tourism Awards in partnership with the UNWTO. This award program recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to providing exceptional visitor experiences and service excellence in Qatar.
Collaboration and Integration
The UN Tourism Regional Commission Conference for the Middle East serves as a platform for enhancing cooperation and integration within the tourism sector among participating countries at the Arab and regional levels. The importance of integration between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries is a key topic, with emphasis on the upcoming implementation of a unified tourist visa later this year. This visa is expected to contribute to sustainable and comprehensive economic development throughout the region.
Tourism Investment and Financing
Qatar Tourism will also participate in a panel session titled “Stimulating Tourism Investment through Cross-Sector Partnerships.” This session will explore tourism investment and financing methods, highlighting Qatar’s favorable investment environment for local and foreign investors.
Qatar’s selection as the host for the 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission Conference is a testament to the country’s commitment to developing a robust and sustainable tourism sector. The conference will provide Qatar with an opportunity to showcase its tourism achievements and collaborate with other countries in the region to further advance the industry.
