Jim Giovannitti, an alumnus of Penn State University, was recently appointed as the Assistant Finance Director for Quaker Valley School District. The decision was unanimously made by the school directors on April 24th. Giovannitti will join the team on May 13th and will work under Brooke Baker, the district’s director of finance and operations. Before joining Quaker Valley, Giovannitti held the position of finance manager at Duquesne City School District. He also worked as a staff accountant for Pennsylvania Transformer Technology in Canonsburg. Giovannitti’s experience in accounting and his understanding of school operations made him stand out among the 10 other candidates for the position. Andrew Surloff, the Assistant Superintendent of Quaker Valley School District, highlighted Giovannitti’s adeptness in explaining his background in school finance and operations. Additionally, Giovannitti’s ability to analyze data points and provide thorough analysis was a key factor in his selection. The school officials extended their gratitude to the outgoing Finance Director, Scott Antoline, for his contributions to the district over eight years. Antoline will continue to assist with the transition for the next two months before retiring at the end of June. During the meeting, several former board members, including Jeff Watters, the previous finance committee chair, expressed their appreciation for Antoline’s dedication, character, and collaborative spirit.
