Queensland MP Brittany Lauga Alleges Drugging and Sexual Assault

Brittany Lauga, a member of parliament in Queensland, Australia, has bravely come forward with allegations of being drugged and sexually assaulted in the town of Yeppoon. In a social media statement, Lauga revealed that she had contacted the authorities on the morning of April 28th. Medical examinations confirmed the presence of drugs in her body that she had not taken, significantly impairing her.

Lauga has been contacted by several other women from Yeppoon who have shared similar experiences, emphasizing the alarming prevalence of such incidents. The Australian MP expressed her deep concern, stating that these assaults could happen to anyone and, unfortunately, often do. She has called for an end to the risk of being drugged or assaulted while socializing.

A video purportedly depicting the assault on Lauga, filmed from across the street, has emerged online. The Queensland Police Service has officially launched an investigation into the matter. Premier Steven Miles has expressed the government’s unwavering support for Lauga and condemned the incident. The Minister for Housing, Meaghan Scanlon, has also expressed her shock and support for Lauga, who plans to take time off to focus on her well-being.

Brittany Lauga, a town planner by profession, has served in parliament for nearly a decade. She was first elected to represent the seat of Keppel in 2015 and currently holds the portfolio of Assistant Minister for Health and Regional Health Infrastructure.
