Race to Build New York Cricket Stadium for T20 World Cup

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, located on the outskirts of New York, is set to host several T20 Cricket World Cup matches, including the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash on June 9. With just 40 days to go until the start of the tournament, however, the stadium remains under construction, raising concerns about its timely completion.

Despite the tight timeline, the International Cricket Council (ICC) maintains that the stadium will be ready for the World Cup. The ICC has shipped in temporary stands that were previously used at the Las Vegas Grand Prix to expedite the construction process. Work on the field is scheduled to begin on April 29, with the completion of building works set for May 6.

A test event is planned for May 27, a week before the first match at the stadium. Despite the stadium’s current state, the ICC has expressed confidence that it will be ready for the tournament, which will take place in the United States and the West Indies.
