Rahil Gangjee emerged victorious at the PKNS Selangor Masters, securing his second win on the Asian Development Tour (ADT). Despite a shaky final round that saw him card six bogeys, the 45-year-old veteran managed to hold on for a one-shot victory over Deyen Lawson.
Gangjee started the day with a commanding five-shot lead but struggled to maintain his form. He encountered three bogeys in his first nine holes, followed by another on the 10th, quickly diminishing his lead. This opened the door for Thailand’s Runchanapong Youprayong, who briefly challenged for the top spot.
However, Gangjee showcased his experience by sinking birdies on the 12th and 13th holes, keeping him in the lead. He added another birdie on the 16th, further extending his advantage. By the 17th tee, Runchanapong had fallen out of contention with a double bogey on the 16th, leaving Lawson as the only remaining threat.
With Lawson just two shots behind, Gangjee unfortunately bogeyed both the 17th and 18th holes, allowing Lawson to close the gap. Lawson’s birdie on the 17th set up a tense final fairway with a single shot separating the two players.
Both golfers managed to salvage only bogeys on the 18th, ultimately securing the win for Gangjee at 8-under par (272). Lawson finished in solo second at 7-under (273). Marcus Lim and Runchanapong tied for third at 6-under (274).
Poosit Suprpramai of Thailand stood out with the only bogey-free round of the day, his four birdies propelling him into a share of fifth place alongside compatriot Sarut Vongchaisit. Saptak Talwar, the only other Indian to make the cut, shot a 70 with three closing bogeys, finishing in a tie for 33rd place.
