Following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Samit Dravid has earned a place in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming series against Australia. The 18-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder was selected for both the three-match one-day series and the subsequent two four-day matches. The one-day series will be played in Puducherry from September 21st to 26th, with Mohammad Amaan leading the team. The four-day series will shift to Chennai, starting on September 30th and concluding on October 7th, under the captaincy of Soham Patwardhan.
While Samit’s recent performances in the KSCA Maharaja T20 trophy have been somewhat underwhelming with the bat, he showcased his talent earlier this year in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He played a pivotal role in Karnataka’s maiden title victory, scoring 362 runs from eight matches, including a standout 98 against Jammu and Kashmir. His bowling was equally impressive, claiming 16 wickets in eight matches, including two in the final against Mumbai.
Samit’s inclusion in the India Under-19 squad is a testament to his potential and his dedication to the sport. As he embarks on this new chapter in his cricketing journey, he will be looking to build upon his past successes and make his mark on the international stage. It will be fascinating to watch how he performs against Australia and how his talent develops over the course of the series.
