Rahul Gandhi Admits Congress’ Mistakes, Vows to Change Politics, Calls Modi a ‘Monarch’ for Two-Three Financiers

Highlighting the need for change within his party, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi admitted to past mistakes and emphasized the importance of evolving its political strategies. He addressed a gathering in Lucknow, where he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of assuming a monarchical role, disconnected from the constitutional framework. Gandhi asserted that Modi acts as a front for a select group of financiers, wielding real power.

During a question-and-answer session, Gandhi expressed his willingness to engage in a debate with Modi on the Constitution. However, he expressed doubts about Modi’s willingness to participate. He also suggested that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge could potentially take part in such a debate.

Gandhi touched upon the topic of the Old Pension Scheme, stating that it remains under consideration for the party’s manifesto. He addressed concerns about the privatization of institutions under the Modi government, expressing the difficulty but emphasizing the party’s resistance to the blatant privatization of major institutions.

In his speech, Gandhi emphasized that true nation-building requires the inclusion of marginalized communities, comprising 90% of the population. He called for a caste-based census to ensure their equitable participation in various sectors, including bureaucracy, sports, media, judiciary, and even beauty pageants.

Gandhi concluded his address by reiterating his assertion that Modi operates as a monarch, not a Prime Minister, emphasizing that he has no regard for the Cabinet, Parliament, or the Constitution. He maintained that Modi answers only to a few financiers who hold the reins of power.
