Rahul Gandhi Pledges Equal Treatment for Amethi and Rae Bareli

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli, expressed his commitment to ensuring equal development for both Amethi and Rae Bareli, acknowledging the longstanding bond he shares with each constituency. Addressing a joint rally with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Gandhi emphasized that his party’s dedication to balanced development extends to both regions. He stated, “If Rs. 10 is spent for development work in Rae Bareli, it would be the same for Amethi too…this is my promise.”

Gandhi expressed his gratitude towards K L Sharma, a longstanding party confidante and Congress candidate, for his selfless service to the people of the constituency over the past 40 years. He reiterated the party’s promise to provide a monthly stipend of Rs. 8,500 to each youth, amounting to a total of Rs. 1 lakh per year, if the Congress forms the government at the Centre. Additionally, Gandhi pledged to abolish the Agniveer scheme for recruitment in the armed forces, reverting to the permanent appointment system that includes pension provisions.

Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav are scheduled to address another rally in Rae Bareli later in the day, with Sonia Gandhi expected to be present.
