Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are set to visit the disaster-stricken Wayanad region in Kerala on Thursday, August 1. Their visit comes in the wake of devastating landslides that have tragically claimed 158 lives in Meppadi, Wayanad. During their visit, Rahul and Priyanka will meet with families affected by the disaster and tour the relief camps established in local schools and medical institutes.
Meanwhile, Delhi schools will remain closed on Thursday due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging. The decision to close schools was announced by Delhi Education Minister Atishi, who cited the forecast of heavy rainfall for August 1. The heavy downpour on Wednesday evening led to massive waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and chaos on roads, significantly impacting the city’s infrastructure.
On the sports front, India has a busy schedule for Day 6 of the Paris Olympics 2024. Shooter Swapnil Kusale will compete in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final, aiming for India’s third medal at the Games.
