Addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, Gandhi highlighted the importance of the Constitution and vowed to protect it from those who sought to undermine it. He accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of overlooking the interests of marginalized communities, including Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs, minorities, and the poor. Gandhi asserted his commitment to upholding democracy, ensuring equal opportunities for all, and empowering the marginalized sections of society.
Gandhi criticized the Narendra Modi government’s policies, claiming that they had only benefited a select few while harming the majority of the nation. He emphasized the need for a caste census and an ‘economic survey’ to accurately address the issues faced by different socioeconomic groups. The Congress manifesto includes initiatives such as the Mahalaxmi plan, designed to provide financial assistance to women in need, and the right to apprenticeship, aiming to empower graduates and diploma holders.
Gandhi pledged to address the concerns of farmers, including loan waivers and the establishment of an agricultural commission. He also advocated for increased representation of women in government and public sector jobs and financial support for frontline workers such as ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Gandhi asserted that the INDIA alliance’s policies would transform the country’s economic landscape, creating millions of ‘lakhpatis’ and lifting countless people out of poverty.
