Rainfall and Thunderstorms Expected to Blanket Pakistan from April 24 to 29

Rainfall and Thunderstorms to Hit Pakistan from April 24-29

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an alert, predicting a new spell of rainfall and thunderstorms across Pakistan’s upper regions from April 24 to 29. A westerly wave is set to enter the western parts of the country on April 24 night, with the impact expected to reach most upper areas by April 26.

This weather system will bring light to heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and isolated heavy falls. Rain-wind coupled with thunderstorms are predicted in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and Punjab. Hailstorms are also a possibility in some areas.

The PMD warns of flash floods in local nullahs and streams in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to moderate to heavy rainfalls from April 27 to 28. Landslides are also a potential hazard in Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan during this period.

Windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning pose additional risks to human life, crops, and infrastructure. Farmers are advised to manage their crops accordingly, while tourists are recommended to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly from April 26 to 29.
