A couple in Rajasthan’s Pali has narrowly escaped a tragic accident after jumping off a railway bridge into a 90-foot-deep gorge to avoid being hit by an oncoming train. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, July 13, left the couple with serious injuries, with the husband’s condition being described as critical.
The couple, identified as Rahul Mewada (22) and Jhanvi (20), were engaged in a photoshoot on the Goram Ghat Bridge, known for its picturesque views. They were so absorbed in creating a reel for social media that they failed to notice an approaching train. As the train drew closer, they realized their predicament and, in a moment of panic, jumped off the bridge to save themselves. The train, traveling at a slow speed, managed to stop after its driver spotted the couple.
Eyewitnesses reported that the couple was completely engrossed in their photoshoot, oblivious to the danger of being on the train tracks. The train was so close when they finally noticed it that escaping seemed impossible. Following the incident, they were rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that both suffered serious injuries. The husband’s condition is particularly severe.
The incident has raised concerns about safety on the Goram Ghat Bridge, which is a popular destination for photographers due to its scenic beauty. Local officials are now considering introducing stricter safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. This includes potentially restricting access to the bridge or implementing more visible warning signs to ensure the safety of visitors.
The video footage of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, serves as a stark reminder of the importance of being aware of your surroundings, especially when near train tracks. It also highlights the need for increased safety measures in areas frequented by tourists and photographers.
