Rajasthan Unveils India’s First Luxury Electric Cruise, Embracing Sustainable Tourism

Rajasthan has made a significant stride towards enhancing its tourism appeal by introducing India’s first luxury electric cruise on the picturesque Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. This eco-conscious endeavor not only promises a premium travel experience but also prioritizes environmental preservation, setting a new standard for sustainable tourism.

The brainchild of JP Dadhich and developed by Board Craft Private Limited from Goa, the project represents a noteworthy innovation with a total investment of INR 5 crore. Built with lightweight fiber instead of traditional heavy materials, this luxury e-cruise is designed to navigate even shallow waters, requiring a depth of just four feet. Spanning 22 meters and boasting a double-decker design, this vessel is a first for India, offering a unique combination of comfort and sustainability.

The lower deck provides respite from Ajmer’s heat with its air-conditioned environment, while the open-air upper deck is ideal for events like parties, DJ nights, or simply enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake. The e-cruise can accommodate up to 150 guests, with 75 passengers on each deck. Onboard amenities include a fully equipped kitchen offering a diverse range of cuisines, from continental dishes to fast food, along with fresh juices. Separate restroom facilities for men and women enhance the comfort for passengers during the ride.

What truly sets this cruise apart is its eco-friendly design. Powered entirely by batteries, it produces zero emissions. Plans are underway to install solar panels in the future to further reduce its environmental impact. Additionally, bio-toilets on board ensure minimal pollution of Ana Sagar Lake, making this initiative a model of sustainable luxury tourism.

For those seeking entertainment, the upper deck offers a vibrant atmosphere with music and dancing as passengers cruise along the tranquil waters of the lake. Safety is a top priority, with the vessel equipped with CCTV cameras, life jackets, and a standby rescue boat for emergencies.

Ana Sagar Lake itself is a historical gem, built between 1135 and 1150 AD by Arnoraja, the grandfather of Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan. Its surrounding Mughal-era gardens, added by Emperor Jahangir, and the marble pavilions constructed by Shah Jahan make it a destination rich in both natural beauty and cultural history.

Ticket prices for this luxury e-cruise are INR 350 for adults and INR 250 for children, with the trip lasting around an hour. This experience provides a perfect blend of relaxation, sightseeing, and entertainment, offering visitors an extraordinary way to explore the serene Ana Sagar Lake.
