The Telangana food safety department conducted raids on Rameshwaram Cafe, a popular South Indian food chain, and discovered several food preparation violations. The officials found 100 kg of expired Urad dal, 10 kg of expired curd, and 8 liters of expired milk at the restaurant.
Company Apologizes, Claims Expired Stocks Were Not Meant for Consumption
In response, Rameshwaram Cafe cofounder Raghavendra Rao posted a video apologizing for the mistakes and promising improvements. He stated that the company’s vision is to achieve global recognition and that they cannot afford to make such errors. Co-founder Divya released a statement claiming that the expired stocks were not intended for consumption but were meant for dispatch.
Social Media Reacts with Skepticism
Social media users expressed dissatisfaction with the explanations given by the cafe’s cofounders. Many criticized the company for the findings and questioned the credibility of their apologies. Some users also alleged that the cafe was using expired ingredients, which the company denied.
Restaurant Vows to Maintain Hygiene Standards
In her statement, Divya emphasized that Rameshwaram Cafe upholds the highest hygiene standards and refuted reports of cockroaches being found in their kitchen. She stated that the official report did not mention this, and the cockroaches were found at another restaurant. The cafe also conducts daily deep cleaning and monthly pest control to maintain its standards.
