Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay are doubtful for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United. Both players were forced off injured during Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City, and ten Hag has said that they are unlikely to be fit for the trip to Bramall Lane.
Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, however, are expected to be available despite picking up knocks in the penalty shootout victory. Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Raphael Varane remain sidelined for United, while Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat, and Willy Kambwala are doubts for the Blades.
Ten Hag also hit out at the criticism of his side following the clash against Coventry, with the Championship outfit coming from three goals behind in the latter stages to force extra-time and then having a goal disallowed in the final moments of the contest for offside.
“In top football, it is about results and we made it to the final and we deserved it. Not only by this game but also the other games and we lost, in 20 minutes, control,” he told reporters.
“Then also we had bad luck, 3-2, 3-3. We were very lucky in the end, [that is] clear. Penalties was very good and we made it to the final and that is a huge achievement. Twice in two years is magnificent.
“For me as a manager, four cup finals in four years. So the comments [from the media] are a disgrace.”
Man United will take on Man City in the FA Cup final at the end of next month, but their attention will now be back on the Premier League, as they prepare to face Sheffield United, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Brighton & Hove Albion in their final six games of the season.
The 20-time English champions are currently seventh in the Premier League table, 16 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, albeit with two games in hand.
