A Delhi court has granted interim bail to Abhishek Gupta, CEO of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, and Deshpal Singh, its coordinator, until December 7. This decision comes in connection with a case involving the tragic deaths of three civil services aspirants in July. The aspirants lost their lives due to flooding in the basement of the study center.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna granted the accused individuals relief on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh each, accompanied by two sureties of the same amount. In addition, the judge ordered Gupta to deposit ₹2.5 crore with the Red Cross Society by November 30. This requirement stems from the lease agreement for the premises, which designates the lessee and CEO of the institute as solely responsible for any loss, claim, or damage to individuals or property.
The court recognized that Gupta and Singh, as CEO and coordinator respectively, held positions of control within Rau’s IAS Study Circle, responsible for its operations.
