Raven SR, a leading renewable fuels company, announced today it has secured a substantial €1,441,862.95 grant from the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. This funding, managed by the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), will be utilized to develop an innovative waste-to-renewable hydrogen production facility in Zaragoza, Spain. The project, which is the first of its kind in Spain to be established on an industrial scale, leverages Raven’s advanced non-combustion Steam/CO Reforming technology. This technology enables the conversion of organic waste into clean hydrogen fuel, contributing significantly to Spain’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy sources.
The grant award underscores the immense potential of Raven’s Steam/CO Reforming technology in driving the transition towards a sustainable energy future. It also highlights the Ministry’s commitment to supporting innovative projects that promote the production of renewable hydrogen in Spain, a key element of the country’s broader climate action plan.
“This grant award reinforces the attractiveness of the Steam/CO Reforming technology and the critical role it can play in Spain and the European Union when producing renewable hydrogen,” said Matt Murdock, Founder and CEO of Raven SR. “We are honored the Ministry recognizes the benefits of our non-combustion technology and the opportunity to reduce organic waste by converting it into renewable hydrogen. Spain is at the forefront of hydrogen production in the EU and we look forward to developing this project in the coming year to advance renewable fuel options in the region.”
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge is actively involved in developing comprehensive government policies to address climate change, prevent pollution, and safeguard natural resources. The ministry’s support for this specific project emphasizes its commitment to fostering innovative technologies that can effectively generate renewable hydrogen, a key factor in achieving a sustainable and resilient energy system.
The award resolution was published last week following approval by the IDAE, a public entity under the Ministry, responsible for managing funding programs focused on developing innovative technologies.
Through the development and deployment of its advanced technologies, Raven SR is making a significant contribution to Spain’s national strategy aimed at reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the adoption of renewable energy sources. Beyond this specific project, Raven SR is actively exploring other production opportunities across the European Union, with particular focus on regions like Portugal, France, and the Netherlands.
Raven SR is a globally recognized renewable fuels company specializing in the development of proprietary Steam/CO2 Reforming technology. This innovative process efficiently transforms waste materials, both solid and gaseous, into valuable hydrogen and Fischer-Tropsch synthetic fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel.
The company’s non-combustion technology ensures reliable production of hydrogen-rich syngas, regardless of the feedstock used, and it stands out for its unique advantages. The Raven SR process eliminates the need for fresh water, making it a highly efficient and environmentally friendly solution. Furthermore, its modular and scalable design allows for local production of emissions-free renewable fuels, effectively reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
Raven SR’s commitment to sustainability and its innovative technological solutions are paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
