The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, released in September 2023, have received a significant update that brings multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The update is currently available for users in the US and Canada, and it introduces a range of new features, including object identification, real-time information, and video calling.
The Meta AI on the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is designed to identify any object captured through the camera. Users can simply say, “Hey Meta,” and ask the glasses to provide information about the object in view. The AI can recognize flowers, plants, car models, and more.
A new generation of frame styles for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses has also been released, alongside a video calling feature. Users can now make and receive video calls using any of the Meta apps, such as Messenger or WhatsApp. The person on the other end of the call will be able to see the point-of-view of the smart glass wearer.
Meta has also introduced a new “Headliner low bridge fit” frame style for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. This frame is designed to be more comfortable for users who have a lower bridge on their nose.
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with multimodal AI capabilities are now available for users in the US and Canada. Meta has not announced when the AI features will be released in other countries, but it is expected that they will be available soon.
