In an incredible comeback, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a spot in the IPL Playoffs after defeating the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs.
RCB posted a formidable score of 218/5 in 20 overs after being put to bat in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli provided a solid start with a 47-run knock, and captain Faf du Plessis contributed a crucial 54.
In reply, CSK needed to restrict RCB to 201, but the match appeared to be slipping away from the Royal Challengers at times during the visitors’ run-chase. However, the RCB bowlers staged a remarkable comeback to deny the Super Kings.
In the final over, CSK required 17 runs to secure a playoff berth. MS Dhoni started off with a six off Yash Dayal, but the RCB pacer remained composed. He dismissed Dhoni off the very next delivery and conceded only one run off the remaining four, helping his side book a playoff spot.
RCB’s victory was a testament to their fighting spirit and resilience throughout the second half of the season. The team defied the odds and emerged victorious against a formidable opponent, securing their place in the Playoffs.
