Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has endured a rollercoaster of a season, going from the depths of despair to the brink of playoff contention. After a forgettable start that saw them languishing at the bottom of the table, RCB has turned their fortunes around in spectacular fashion, winning five consecutive matches to reignite their playoff hopes.
On Sunday, RCB overcame a Rishabh Pant-less Delhi Capitals side at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by 47 runs. This victory not only moved them up to fifth place in the points table but also put them on the cusp of achieving what seemed highly unlikely just a month ago.
RCB’s turnaround has been built on the back of some impressive performances from their batting unit. Will Jacks has also made valuable contributions, while the experienced duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli have provided stability at the top of the order.
RCB’s bowlers have also stepped up to the plate, with Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj leading the charge. Youngster Akash Deep has also impressed with his pace and accuracy.
As RCB prepares for their final league match against defending champions Chennai Super Kings, the excitement is palpable. A win (by a certain margin to avoid a net run rate battle) would see them through to the next round after missing out in 2023.
