Real Madrid will be aiming to move 14 points clear at the top of the La Liga table when they head to Real Sociedad on Friday night. Carlo Ancelotti’s side opened up an 11-point advantage at the summit by beating second-placed Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday evening, with the capital side now in a commanding position in the division.
However, Real Madrid will be without several key players for the trip to Real Sociedad due to injuries and suspensions. Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba are both long-term absentees, while Ferland Mendy is a doubt for the match on Friday due to a slight muscular problem.
Courtois underwent surgery on an ACL injury last August and is unlikely to play again this season, while Alaba suffered an ACL injury in December and will not be available until the 2024-25 campaign. Mendy missed training on Wednesday and is not expected to play on Friday, but he should be back for the Champions League contest against Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid have no players banned for this match.
