Real Salt Lake’s leading scorer, Cristian Arango, has been suspended for four matches due to a violation of Major League Soccer’s Anti-Harassment Policy. The specifics of the violation have not been released by either the MLS or Real Salt Lake. Despite the lack of details, Real Salt Lake has confirmed their full cooperation with the investigation and acceptance of the disciplinary decision.
Arango, 29, has had a stellar season, currently leading MLS with 17 goals, tying the RSL single-season record set by Alvaro Saborio in 2012. His absence will be felt during crucial upcoming matches, including the upcoming road games against Los Angeles FC and Colorado Rapids, the MLS All-Star Game on July 24th, and the Leagues Cup home match against Atlas on August 1st.
Besides his impressive goal tally, Arango also ranks second on the team with 11 assists this season, his second with Salt Lake. Prior to joining RSL, he played for LAFC from 2021-22, netting 14 and 16 goals respectively in those seasons. Overall, the Colombian striker has amassed an impressive 53 goals and 20 assists in 85 matches (73 starts) throughout his four MLS campaigns.
