Rebecca Ferguson Joins Cillian Murphy in ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie

Rebecca Ferguson, known for her roles in ‘Dune’ and ‘Mission: Impossible,’ has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie. Ferguson will be starring alongside Cillian Murphy, who will reprise his role as the iconic gangster Tommy Shelby. Details about Ferguson’s character are being kept under wraps, adding to the intrigue surrounding this highly anticipated project.

Ferguson’s casting is another feather in her cap as one of Hollywood’s top leading heroines. The Swedish actress is best known for playing Ilsa Faust in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, including ‘Rogue Nation,’ ‘Fallout,’ and ‘Dead Reckoning Part One.’ She also portrayed Lady Jessica in both ‘Dune’ and ‘Dune: Part Two,’ the latter being the second-highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far.

The ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie was greenlit by Netflix in June, with a script penned by series creator Steven Knight. Tom Harper, who directed three episodes of the first season, will helm the film. Murphy expressed his excitement about returning to the world of ‘Peaky Blinders,’ saying in a statement to Netflix, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

While plot details remain under wraps, the ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie will be set during World War II, promising an action-packed and dramatic narrative. Knight has described the movie as an “explosive chapter” in the story, revealing that the gang will be facing a new set of challenges in the midst of war.

‘Peaky Blinders’ follows the rise and fall of the Shelby family’s street gang in Birmingham, England, between 1919 and 1934. The series premiered in 2013 and ran for six seasons, concluding in April 2022. Although the show aired on BBC One and BBC Two in the UK, it gained international recognition when it began streaming on Netflix.

The ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie is set to begin production later this year. While no release date has been announced, fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see the beloved characters back on screen in this exciting new chapter.
