Rebel Wilson, known for her role in ‘Pitch Perfect,’ has candidly shared in her memoir, ‘Rebel Rising,’ that she was 35 when she lost her virginity to actor and comedian Mickey Gooch Jr. In the revealing chapter titled ‘Late Bloomer,’ Rebel delves into her initial sexual experience, disclosing it was with now 38-year-old Mickey Gooch Jr. The Australian actress, who has impressively shed 80lbs recently, confessed that during the time when she lost her virginity, she was at her ‘highest weight’ and harboured feelings of insecurity, believing that ‘as a big girl’ no one would ever truly find her sexually attractive.
In an even more personal revelation, Rebel admits she thinks Mickey was unaware he was her first, as she writes him a heartfelt note in her book: “‘And, Micks, I know this might be news to you if you are reading this, but yes, I lost my virginity to you.'” Rebel humorously recounts that she ‘high-fived’ herself after the event with Mickey at New York’s Greenwich Hotel, while she was filming for ‘How To Be Single’. In the 2016 film, also starring Dakota Johnson, Mickey also made a brief appearance.
Following her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, Rebel Wilson was spurred into action regarding her love life. She candidly shared: “Life IS short. I didn’t want to live my life without experiencing sex. Experiencing love. I put it out into the universe that I was finally ready. I was going to feel the fear and just do it. I was going to slut it up with the next guy that came along – who also seemed like a suitable marriage candidate.” After visiting her ill mother in Australia, Rebel returned to the US where she was ‘set up’ with Mickey by Hana Mae Lee, her co-star from Pitch Perfect. She found him ‘chiselled’ and ‘sexy’, and even admitted to loving his name for its Disney connection. Rebel was impressed by his wealth and ocean-view mansion, but their first intimate encounter wasn’t just a fling; they dated for a month before taking things to the next level.
In her memoir, Rebel reveals she watched adult films and used a vibrator ‘in preparation’ the night before. Their relationship lasted six months, but when Rebel learned of Mickey’s past addiction issues and his relapse during a trip, she knew she had to end things. Despite wanting to support him, her role as a public figure and a role model meant she couldn’t continue the relationship.
